Utah Yellow Pages originated as Golden State Directories in California in 1983. A young salesman by the name of Layne Snyder helped them achieve ten national awards. He then went to work for Golden State Directories and helped expand their market into the Salt Lake Valley.
In 1997, Utah Yellow Pages was founded and opened its first community directory in this area - the Sandy/Draper phone book. With the success of the Sandy book, Utah Yellow Pages opened directories in the Jordan/Southwest area the next year, Murray/Midvale in 1999, the Holladay/Cottonwood and the West Valley area books in 2000, and Park City in 2001. A year later Layne decided to move to Utah to take over the Uah Yellow Pages company. He started with six employees and now employs around twenty five. This year he wll add a seventh book, the Sugarhouse/Foothill area.
The smaller local books that Utah Yellow Pages produces are a perfect fit for the demographics of this valley. As gas prices and traffic congestion increase, more and more people want to shop closer to their homes. Explosive growth has resulted in communities becoming more localized, and businesses are taking advantage of this opportunity by targeting their local area. Two of the books even inlude a Hispanic yellow pages section.
A Utah Yellow Pages directory is distributed free to every home and business in each of the seven areas. With most businesses drawing 90% of their customers from within a one-to-three-mile radius of their location, the community phone book helps them maximize their advertisement dollar. And Utah Yellow Pages charges a fraction of the cost of the large directories in our area. With beautiful covers and a handy size, people find them easier to use, convenient to keep in their car, and attractive to display in their homes and offices.
Layne added an online product this year at www.myutahyellowpages.com. This makes each of the Utah Yellow Pages directories available online. It can link to the website of every client who advertises in the book and can call up a map showing their business location.
Utah Yellow Pages' uniqueness lies in producing the only community-oriented phone directories in the Salt Lake Valley. With "Your Community At Hand" as their motto, businesses that advertise with the Utah Yellow Pages have found the perfect way to target their market, increase sales, and save money!
